A Story of Hope: A Dream Becomes Reality
Sometimes hope and resilience are the only things that can carry us closer to our ultimate goals. This was the case with a young girl we’ll call Hannah.
Hannah was 15 when she moved to Scott County, Tennessee, from Memphis. She attended school, was a devoted student and dreamed of attending college. However, her studies were often hampered by tooth pain that had gone untreated for some time.
Hannah and her mother heard about Elgin Foundation and its commitment to providing dental care within Scott and other counties. However, because of funding-usage restrictions, Hannah was too old to qualify for treatment from Elgin.
Determined to get Hannah the care she needed, Elgin Foundation and its partner organization, the Children’s Health and Maintenance Plan, helped Hannah’s mother apply for and obtain TennCare for her daughter.
Hannah was then able to be treated by Dr. Thompson and continue to be the stellar student she loved being.
Hannah is now 17, a high school graduate, and enrolled in college studying to be a paralegal. Hope and action combined can truly have immense results.
